Week of April 20th - April 26th
Today may be a short blog. I have been super busy this week at work and am hopefully caught up. While I don't mind working at all I thought the late nights were done with the end of the PhD and therefore I would be able to leave earlier. Wrong..... It is testing time and that has taken more time then expected as we figure things out. We have had various glitches with the computers as we got started which caused more and more time to be used in the evening to figure it out. Thank goodness my BFAW Victor tried some items early and is so willing to help out. He was my savior this week with questions. Thanks VICTOR!!!
We did try and have a little fun during the week during testing. Of course I do think it is hilarious when I walk into the discipline office and am met with the planning of Cinco de Mayo in the office. This is our resource officer who is hilarious. He is always joking around and I can always find him making people smile.
For those of you who know me well, you know that I am an animal lover. Many have told me I should have been a veterinarian but I knew that I would want to take each animal without a home back to my house so unless I was going to buy a zoo that would not work. Well, remember, all my cats have been strays from schools or locations I live. Squeak came from Laurens District 55 High School and Husky came from John W. North High School. Well there was a pregnant cat outside at the apartment who had 4 kittens and two of those kittens got pregnant. Well I was able to "kitty nap" two of the pregnant cats and lock them in my bathroom on Monday night. See how cute they are....
Of course, I could not get them to to the shelter quick enough and look what happened. This one had kittens. She had three but one of them never made it out of the placental sac and therefore passed away. However, she was being a good momma with these two and caring for them. She did not bite or hiss at me at all during this time either.
I took them to the Friends of the Valley Animal shelter on Saturday morning so they could find homes. While I know they needed to go and I don't need to be the "Cat Lady," I am sad that I will not get to see all the kittens and the sweet kitties that were outside are now gone.
My guidance counselor are fabulous. We meet every other week and one of the things we do is rotate snacks. This was the spread that Miranda brought in for us. She is so creative and did an Easter theme with make your own trail mix. We have really gotten to know each other this year as we work together and while the meetings can be long and sometimes we don't all agree everyone is great and we are making progress in training Leann. LOL!!!!
Well, Janell, my administrative assistant decided that I needed a new nameplate. I kept telling everyone that it is not a big deal and we could order a new nameplate when we get the new assistant principal this summer. However, Janell decided I needed one now. So it is official, as you walk into my office this is here. Now, the really cool thing is that this was not ordered! Janell made it for me and it looks better than my old one and it is cardstock paper!
Prom was a huge success. Becky Porter, the advisors and kids did a phenomenal job at prom on Saturday night. While I am struggling with sleep and dealing with the fallout of lack of it because I cannot seem to get back on a sleeping cycle, I had an absolutely fantastic time! I love seeing the kids all dressed up and hearing about their night. They looked wonderful. I did make it to bed by 1:45 am on Sunday morning from Prom.
Sunday, I slept in and then got up to run errands, did laundry, cleaned the apartment and cleaned out my teaching books so they are thinned out and I can pass them onto someone who may want them. Next week it is the closet and then the week after drawers. Just trying to thin out the "stuff" I have that I am not using and don't need by recycling it to someone who can use it and may want it.
I hope everyone has a great week this week. We are entering another week of testing and it is shaping up to be a little busy this week also. Best wished to everyone!!!

Hello Everyone!!!!!
The Ph.D. is DONE!!!! From the end of December until last Sunday I have been working on finishing up something I have been working on since August of 2001. While I have been working on the research, writing, analyzing of the data, and other items related to the document, it has only been since December that I have put in the extensive number of hours to be able to finish up the document. This involved early mornings, late nights, long weekends at work and very little socialization since December 26th to get it done. I had cut off pretty much all phone calls, visits for dinners, going to Disneyland, and hanging with friends to complete the project. On April 7th, I successfully defended my dissertation. On April 10th, all revisions were complete ad the final document was sent back to the editor. On April 16th, I upload the dissertation to ProQuest and on April 17th, I made the one change ProQuest wanted and resubmitted. I am now officially done and while I am allowed to use the term Dr., it will be May 10th, that it comes officially, official.
There is no way I could address and thank everyone that has helped and been supportive in completing my dissertation. Here is the dedication page:
I was back in SC for the first time since I moved in 2013 and I wish I had time and could tell you everything and about all the events that happened from the great visit to River Bluff, to the busted window at Irmo High School and the hell it was to get on the plane in Greenville to fly back because US Airways are COMPLETE MORONS!!!! However, there is just not the time and if I start going over everything from December until now, it would be another dissertation. I will say that I loved seeing everyone!!! Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy week to visit with me and catch up. I am so incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to touch each of your lives and to have you in mine. I have learned from each of you over the years. Sorry that I did not get a picture with the ATC girls, Kaaren, Ann Darr, my high school friends, Coach Savitz, and all the other people that I got to see. Please know that I loved seeing you.
My first day back at North was a whirlwind!!! Below is what I encountered as I entered my office.
Everyone at North has been so sweet, kind and supportive. It has been fun to see the kids and have them scream out Dr. Iacuone across the campus or to run up and give me a hug and whisper, "Congratulations Dr. Iacuone!" They are so cute!!! Someone said to me the other day, "You know everyone is talking about you being a Dr." I just looked at them and said, "Why?" I was told, "It is a big deal and everyone is just so happy for you." I am lucky I ended up at such a great school, not everyone is as lucky as I have been.
I have constantly said since July 2014, "No major life decisions until the Ph.D. is complete." I have avoided all major decisions of job hunting, changing living quarters, getting a new phone, taking any trips, and any other item that would require me to think more than 10-15 minutes. Now, I don't have that excuse and it is time to start thinking....... Decision #1 - What is the first thing I am going to do now?????
